International Associations of the Faithful. Directory

repertorio-eng

In 2004 the Pontifical Council for the Laity brought out a Directory of International Associations of the Faithful which was published by the Libreria Editrice Vaticana.

The Directory seeks to present a general picture as comprehensive and as systematic as possible of the different forms of international associations of the Catholic laity today.

We also recall that it was Blessed John Paul II himself, in the post-synodal apostolic exhortation Christifideles Laici (cf. nr. 31), who urged our dicastery to undertake this work.

As well as carrying out a kind of census of these groups, the directory is a tool that circulates information about the main features of the various international associations of the faithful and their history. It encourages mutual awareness, and the fact that all are gathered in one publication is a way of showing ecclesial communion in diversity and complementarity of charisms.

We are presently updating the information by adding the ecclesial groups that have recently received official approval by our dicastery. Groups that are already included but that wish to update any of the data, may do so by contacting our office.
