On the eve of John Paul II’s beatification, a website/blog featuring the new Blessed’s thought and writings on "woman," was launched. The website aims to unpack John Paul's body of work which he termed the 'New Feminism,' and to inform as many women as possible about this beautiful teaching on the nature of woman, that is, who she was meant to be by God and her purpose in his plan.
In his work, John Paul II has examined woman from an anthropological and theological perspective and believes that physical and spiritual motherhood lived authentically may be the catalyst for a lasting societal and cultural shift. He uses the term 'the genius of women' to describe the God-given feminine traits of self-gift, empathy and entrustment of the ‘other’ which are meant to be used at the service of the Church and society, especially within the family. This type of influence may be most efficacious in the family, but is also needed by woman’s participation throughout society, as women recognizing and living from their true vocation may have a formidable impact on all interpersonal relationships, be it as mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend or colleague, which will in turn be the basis for the cultural transformation of which John Paul speaks.
This nurturing of the human person in all sectors of society is a primary means that God uses in intermingling with the world; and so this website hopes to educate and exhort women to act on their specific mission, so that they may ultimately affect society, for the better, for Christ.
